FAQ
Questions we get on the first call.
Short answers, in the same words we use on a call. If your question is not here, book the 20 minutes and ask it.
What does Fidelis Solutions do?
Fidelis Solutions is a Canadian consultancy that provides Managed FinOps for Microsoft Azure. We find the waste in your Azure bill, help you eliminate it safely, and prove the savings every month against your real bill. We do not sell software alone: a platform, Elos, and an operator work the loop together.
Who is Fidelis for?
Teams of 50 to 500 people running on Azure with no dedicated FinOps hire. Too small to staff a FinOps team, too big to ignore the bill. We are the managed layer in between: bilingual in English and French, Canadian, and focused only on Azure.
How does Fidelis access my Azure environment?
Read-only by default. Onboarding is done through Azure Lighthouse, a delegated, revocable, read-only template. Your credentials never live in our database. If you prefer zero access, you can run the first scan yourself in your own Cloud Shell and share the output.
Does Fidelis change anything in production?
Never without your approval. Any remediation runs in your own automation account, gated by your approval. Whoever requests a change cannot approve it, so every fix has four eyes on it. Every step lands in an append-only audit trail.
What is Elos?
Elos is the platform we built for one job: closing the loop on Azure cost. It reads your tenant through Azure Lighthouse, read-only, and runs 24 waste checks across compute, storage, licensing, commitments, and AKS, ranked by net dollar impact rather than by count. Every finding becomes a tracked work item with an owner and a status, and realized savings land in a ledger.
What kinds of waste does Elos find?
Idle virtual machines, oversized virtual machines and SQL databases, missing Azure Hybrid Benefit, dev and test workloads running 24/7, oversized scale sets and elastic pools, reservation and savings plan opportunities, underutilized commitments, and geo-redundancy premiums you may not need. Each finding shows the net monthly impact and the gross amount behind it.
How are savings verified?
A saving counts only when the following scan confirms the change actually happened. Every number is netted against your real bill, not estimated from list prices. Not us, not you. The scan.
What is the free FinOps Score?
A self-reported snapshot of how well you control Azure cost. Ten questions, two minutes, no tenant access and no credentials. You get a score from 0 to 100 across Visibility, Optimization, and Operations, plus your three next best actions. The real number uses your data, safely, on a 20-minute call.
What happens on the 20-minute call?
About ten questions on how you run Azure today. A straight read on where your tenant likely leaks. No deck, no pitch, nothing to prepare. If we are not a fit, you still leave knowing your next three moves.
Do you work with AWS or Google Cloud?
No. Fidelis is focused only on Azure. That focus is why the checks, the remediation paths, and the verification are specific rather than generic.
Which languages do you work in?
English and French. Nous travaillons en anglais et en français.
Who does the work?
The founder. There are no account managers between you and the person reading your tenant.
How much does it cost?
A flat monthly retainer, banded by how much you spend on Azure. Not a percentage of your savings, and not a percentage of your bill, because neither of those points the incentives in the right direction. Most engagements start with a paid two-week read-only assessment, credited toward your first months if you continue. Bring your monthly Azure spend to the 20-minute call and we can size it on the call.
